Padang Padang Beach : The Surfer’s Mecca

Bali Personal Drivers - Padang Padang Beach is located on Jl Labuan Sait, Pecatu village, not far from the famous temple Pura Luhur Uluwatu. Beach is located about 32 km from the city of Denpasar and takes about 25 minutes if you drive from Kuta. Bali's southern region known as the Bukit Peninsula is not as green as the north of the island. However, the Bukit Peninsula has an amazing beach where you can find the best place to surf or just to relax and admire the view.

Padang Padang Beach is one of Bali's favorite beaches. This beach has very beautiful scenery with beautiful crystal clear water looks bluish, silky soft white sand and breath-taking cliffs and rock formations. In short, Padang Padang Beach is the ideal place to relax and enjoy the beach.

Padang Padang beach has its own uniqueness for visitors who come, as it is surrounded by solid rock cliff. Some of the beaches in southern Bali is difficult to achieve but once you have arrived at your destination you will be glad you have put some effort into it.

There is a large parking area where you can park your vehicle safely. Just need a little cross then you have to pass through a narrow natural cave that is only fit one person and as if such would pinch anyone who entered it.

Though Padang Padang Beach does not have a long coastline such of Kuta beach, but the beauty of the beach with rock cliffs and lush trees creeping its, you will be able to make linger here. Situated right on the front of the Indian Ocean, the waves here are known to have a high degree of difficulty. Big waves just formed pipes with strong force of the current, making it just may be tried for experienced surfers. Waves at Padang-Padang beach could peak up to a maximum of 12 feet.

Padang-Padang beach is "one of the best surf spots in Bali". its perfect waves are very attractive to the world-class surfers. The popularity of Padang-Padang beach began around 1996's, when the band Michael Learns To Rock took this beach as a shooting location in one of their video clips. Padang-padang beach is more famous by the film 'Eat, Pray, Love' starring Hollywood superstar Julia Roberts. In the process of filming 'Eat, Pray, Love', the Padang Padang beach was closed for the public.

Dreamland : Expectations Beach in A Barren and Arid Land

Bali Personal Drivers - Dreamland Beach is located at Pecatu village, Bukit peninsula, on the southern tip of Badung regency, Bali. You can reach Dreamland Beach about 30 minutes from Kuta. The beach is still natural and very pretty. You'll find this beach on your way to the one of the most famous temples in Bali, Pura Luhur Uluwatu.

History of Dreamland

For decades, the beaches around Pecatu actually known by surfers and nudists. Because the beaches around Pecatu is quite hidden away among the cliff with limited access. One of the beaches around Pecatu is Dreamland beach. So why this beach called Dreamland, here is history ....

Was originally the Dreamland is barren and arid land. Because they hope to switch to a more profitable tourism business than just a farmer at that time. The enormous their expectations, so they named this place as a land of dreams or dreamland. Since then the region is called " Dreamland "

Dreamland is a beach surrounded by rock cliffs. When you enter Dreamland Beach area, your eyes will be mesmerized by the high cliffs view that overgrown with green pastures. Taman Ayun Temple : The Sacred Complex Floating on Water

Bali Personal Drivers - Taman Ayun Temple is located in the village of Mengwi, Badung regency and about 18 km north of Denpasar. Taman Ayun Temple is very easy to find because of its strategic location on the side of the main road between Denpasar to Singaraja.

History of Taman Ayun Temple

Historically, when the newly completed consecrated in 1634, Pura Taman Ayun named Pura Taman Ahyun. Taman Ahyun derived from the word "Taman" which means garden, and the word "Ahyun" from "Hyun" which means desire. So Taman Ahyun, was temple that established in a garden that can fulfill the desire.
"Hyun" word then turn into "Ayun". But the meaning of Ayun is slightly different from Hyun. Ayun word meaning beautiful. So Taman Ayun means a park or garden that is beautiful or gorgeous.

Taman Ayun built in the 17th century precisely in 1634 by the first king of the Kingdom of Mengwi, Tjokorda Sakti Blambangan. He is supported by an architect who came from China. Courtyard of the temple arranged in such a beautifully and surrounded by the pond. In 1937 this temple was restored and decorated by some of "Meru" its towering and majestic. Meru is intended for the royal ancestors and to the gods who dwell in another temples in Bali. Taman Ayun Temple is a temple family for the Kingdom of Mengwi.

Originally, the temple was founded because The 9 major temples in Bali, such as Pura Besakih, Pura Ulundanu, Pura Batur, Pura Uluwatu, Pura Batukaru, and other major temples, the distance is too far to reach by the people of Mengwi.

Pura Luhur Uluwatu : 80 ft Above The Waves of The Indian Ocean

Bali Personal Drivers - Pura Luhur Uluwatu or Uluwatu Temple of Bali is the most spectacular and one of the oldest temples in Bali which is located high on a cliff about 80 feet above the waves of the Indian Ocean. Uluwatu lies at the southern tip of Bali in the village of Pecatu, South Kuta district, Badung regency and about 25 Km or the southern city of Denpasar.

History of Pura Luhur Uluwatu

Pura Luhur Uluwatu was originally used as a place of worship a holy priest named Empu Kuturan from the the 11th century, who spread the traditional village with all the rules. This temple is also used to worship the holy priest followed, namely Dang Hyang Nirartha.

Dang Hyang Nirartha came to Bali in late 1550 and end the journey with a so-called Holy Moksah or "Ngeluhur" in this temple. That is the word from which the name of Uluwatu. Hindus in Bali regard this temple is one of the "Pura Sad Kahyangan" as a buffer from 9 of the wind. Position of Uluwatu Temple is face to face with Andakasa Temple, Batur Temple and Besakih Temple. Due it's generally a lot of Hindus strongly believe in Uluwatu that as a medium to implore the gift of life on earth.

As the temple was founded by the conception "Sad Winayaka", Pura Luhur Uluwatu aims to preserve the "Sad Kertih" (Atma Kerti, Segara Kerti, Danu Kerti, Wana Kerti, Jagat Kerti and Jana Kerti). While the temple was founded by "Padma Bhuwana Conception", Pura Luhur Uluwatu established as Lord of the aspects of the southwest. Worship of Lord Shiva Rudra as the God who gives energy to the creation.

GWK Cultural Park

Today, the statue of Wisnu is as high as 20 meters from the original plan of 150 meters. The Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue or GWK and its pedestal building will be standing 150 meters tall with its wings span 64 meters across and will be surrounded by more than 240 hectares cultural park which was once an abandoned and unproductive limestone quarry. Made from more than 4000 tons of copper and brass, the statue is picturing Lord Wisnu, as the source of wisdom, riding on the back of the mythical bird Garuda as the manifestation of conscience toward Amerta, the perennial goodness.

At present time, the statue of Wisnu, the statue of Garuda, and the hands of Wisnu have been placed temporarily in three different plazas within the park.

    As the anchor point of GWK, the 20 meter tall copper statue of the Lord Wisnu has been placed temporarily on the highest hill of Ungasan where visitors can enjoy sunset or sunrise over the magnificent view of Kuta, The Benoa Harbour, Nusa Dua and Sanur.
    The statue of Wisnu is an illustration of the Almighty God in maintaining and caring all life and its being. The god Wisnu is the owner of Amerta in the form of water as the source of fertility , giving wealth and life to the universe.

The colossal limestone pillars and monumental Garuda statue make Lotus Pond a very exotic space.     The statue of Wisnu’s hands was added to GWK Cultural Park in 2007. It’s one step closer to finishing the complete Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue. This piece was placed temporarily on Tirta Agung area.

The existence of Ngurah Rai International Airport is what separates these beaches. Kuta : One Stop Vacation in Bali

Bali Personal Drivers - Kuta is a former fishing village in the south of Bali, Indonesia, about 11 KM south of Denpasar. Kuta is Bali region which has a very rapid development of tourism, and it makes Kuta as one of the major tourist destination both for Bali and Indonesia.

Kuta History

Kuta is a tranquil fisherman countryside in the past. On the three hundred years ago, in this place been established a Konco (Buddhist Temple) located beside Tukad Mati (Dead River). In 1834, a merchant named Mads Lange landed on the island of Lombok. Mads Lange was the man from Denmark who was born on 18 September 1807. He did spice trading business. A war between the Kingdom of Karangasem with Mataram causing trading business he managed decline and then went bankrupt.

Armed with the rest of the capital he had, Mads Lange went to the island of Bali. Mads Lange landed in Kuta through the Tukad Mati, which at that time can still be used for sailing.
